Zulu Three: ETA May 2021
Zulu Three HEIR: ETA May 2021
When our youngest son started to get frustrated on his Specialized Hotrock 16 (because of the coaster break and the weight) I started doing research. We needed a bike that had hand breaks and was a reasonable weight for a 5 year old to handle on the trails. We decided to invest in the Prevelo Alpa Two and, man, was it worth it! It completely changed biking for our little guy. Suddenly he could keep up with the rest of the family on trails and his love of biking grew exponentially. When it came time to trade up to a 20” I did my research again and again came back to Prevelo. The customer service is unmatched! I called Prevelo with some questions about the Zulu Three and was blown away by the responsiveness and personalized service. We live in Maine and we got the bike in January (aka snow season) but he has already taken it out on a few rides because he just couldn’t wait to ride his new Zulu Three. The quality of the parts is superb and the bike is perfectly designed for a young rider. We are all thrilled.
My son loves this bike! At first he wasn't convinced because it was not his favorite color (red), but after riding a few times on the trails he realized how awesome this bike is. His riding has gotten so much better over the last 2 months. He is finally able to shift gears (his old bike had the revo twist shifters and he could not shift those) and climbing hills without moaning! Major win! Yesterday we took it to a new pump track and he was riding for 3.5 hours straight. This high quality bike is an investment in your little rider, but if you are an avid biker and are taking the kid out on the trail it is a bike that can make them a much stronger rider! If you're thinking about it, take into account how much awesome riding time you'll get with your little shredder and those memories created, not how many years they can ride that size. I absolutely would recommend buying this bike to anyone who is trying to get their kid interested in mountain biking.
Kiddo loves it and this bike is the real deal for the money it costs. It even looks like a Ferrari in the Red color it comes in. My 6 year old will enjoy this and improve his riding abilities for years to come.
My son on the Zulu 3 was able to ride some pretty legit trails. The single rear derailleur is a great setup for a kid. Bike was honestly a piece of cake to assemble. I'm sure the Alpha model is lighter, but I do think the suspension is worth it if you are going to really go out into the jungle. Its pretty cool that you can get a bike for an 8 year old that's good enough to go on trails that Dad has fun on. Everything on the bike feels as it would on a grown up bike, just scaled. Of course, I have no experience with competing bikes so I can't say it is better or worse than the other well-regarded models out there, but I can surely say its better than the kid bikes at big stores in town. Overall, I'm very happy to have done this. I questioned spending as much on a bike for an 8 year old as I did for myself, but the final result seems to have been worth it. Also, Prevelo does well with their shipping communications. Bike was supposed to ship next business day and did, and I got tracking information as I should.
There is no doubt why this bike is considered one of the best bycicles for kids. Excellent quality and design, my son loved it! Getting ready for the 2020 season!
