Prevelo Unveils Updated Alpha Series with Significant Weight Reductions, Upgraded Components, and Kick Bike Conversion - Prevelo Bikes

The MkIII Alpha Series is built to handle it all, giving kids one bike that performs seamlessly on neighborhood streets, parks, and unpaved paths

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, June 24, 2025 – Prevelo has unveiled a complete redesign of its best-selling Alpha Series. Built for performance, tuned for versatility, and engineered with uncompromising attention to detail, the third-generation of the Alpha Series (MkIII) gives young riders one bike that performs seamlessly across varied terrain and riding conditions.

The freshly updated bikes include the Alpha Zero MkIII, Alpha One MkIII, Alpha Two MkIII, Alpha Three MkIII, Alpha Four MkIII, and Alpha Five MkIII.

Reimagined for young riders who want more from every ride, the MkIII Alpha Series bikes combine kid-focused design with high-performance features and all-purpose versatility. The Alpha Three, Four, and Five are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes that provide confident, low-effort braking on mixed surfaces. For young riders still developing coordination, this means more predictable, responsive stopping power across pavement, gravel, and light trails.

The Alpha One and Two feature Prevelo’s patent-pending BALANCE-TEC system, a balance-to-pedal conversion that doesn’t compromise pedaling performance and inspires confidence as children learn to pedal. Parents can swap the bike between kick and pedal modes in minutes, using only hex keys.

The redesigned bikes feature other significant performance upgrades, including:

  • Sealed cartridge bearings throughout, improving performance, durability and longevity
  • Double-wall, tubeless-capable rims for riders and parents who want to boost traction and reduce punctures
  • Multi-speed bikes feature clutch-style derailleurs for improved drivetrain performance and reduction in frustrating chain drops
  • Weight reduction across all models, despite performance upgrades, resulting in some of the lightest, most capable bikes in their categories

“The new MkIII Alpha Series is the result of our kid-first design approach combined with a deep focus on higher performance and greater versatility,” said Prevelo Founder Jacob Rheuban. “These bikes are built for real-world riding across curbs, gravel, trails, parks, and long neighborhood laps. The geometry and components give young riders confidence on mixed surfaces. Every detail is tuned to create a bike that feels responsive, capable, and fun to ride everywhere.”

The MkIII Alpha bikes are available in three colors – blue, silver, and pink – and are available for pre-order now at prevelo.com.

New Accessories From Prevelo

To complement the new Alpha bikes, Prevelo is also introducing the brand’s first top tube bag. The zippered bag, $39, attaches via top tube bosses that are standard on all Prevelo Alpha bikes.

The new accessory empowers young riders to carry some of their own supplies, and also encourages fun and exploration by providing a way to pick up snacks, rocks, sticks, or other trailside treasures.

Other new accessories include a new mini floor pump and a bike lock, which fits into the new top tube bag. All accessories are available at prevelo.com.
