The HEIR cranks are custom sized for each bike size to make sure little riders have optimum pedal ergonomics. The ultra-narrow Q-factors matches narrow hips of young cyclists. Technical mumbo jumbo translation: more comfort and efficiency for small riders. We also updated our chainguard to ensure shoelaces and pant legs stay snag free.
The Alpha Two's unique frame is designed to keep riders low, confident and agile. The unique THRU-TUBE™unlocks class leading low seat height and seat height range, and improves pedaling ergonomics while keeping the rider's feet close to the ground.
The unique interface between the seat post and saddle allow the Frame Hugger saddle to get ultra low to accomodate small riders, while providing an ultra-wide height adustment range for growing riders.
The hubs are equipped with rounded axle bolts that minimize hard edges. And because kids are going to run their bikes through muck, the hubs have rubber seals to keep out dirt and grime.
This is where little riders command their steed. It's decked out with ultra small diameter grips and brake levers that are designed for small hands, and have reach adjustment.
Kids are going to put their bikes through the ringer, so Prevelo bikes are built kid tough with robust BMX track style forged dropouts that shroud the rear axle.
Getting your kids the right size bike is important and, fortunately, also easy. You just need two pieces of information about your little rider:
Children who are learning are more sensitive to bicycle height than children who already know how to ride a bike. If the rider is new we recommend erring on the side of a smaller bike. If the rider is experienced and confident, it is OK to err on the side of a larger bike.
We include ride age as guidance for our bikes as a quick reference. But because riders of the same age can have very different sizes, inseam is a more reliable size indicator than age.

Loving the bike! My son is already telling me that he is doing tricks just like Danny Macaskill! Would love to have a little more direction on hot to fit kids bikes (i.e. Feet flat on ground or toes only).
So happy to hear that your little Danny Macaskill is enjoying his Alpha Two. Thank you for the constructive feedback about providing instructions for kids bike fit. We thrive on feedback like this. We have a new illustrated guide on how to fit a kids bike. Check it out here: https://prevelobikes.com/pages/kids-bike-fit
My son is 3 1/2 w/ an inseam of about 16 1/2". He was an aggressive balance bike rider and has been ready for a pedal bike for a while. I wanted a 16" bike for him but couldn't find any that would fit and be easy to learn on. This was the only 16" that I could find that fit him (he could put his feet down easily) and was high quality. When I took him for his first ride, all it took was a little push and he was riding away. At the pump track, you can see the difference in geometry vs. most other bikes like this. The wheelbase is much longer, the riding position lower, and the fork geometry more forgiving. The slack head angle has already saved him a couple of times. As for ease of assembly, I had it together in about fifteen minutes, including swapping out the longer seat post. The only thing I've adjusted is the brake lever positioning. No complaints so far but we're only a couple weeks in.
My daughter and I really like the bike. It's light, good components, and fits her really well.
Everything exceeded expectations, the shipping, assembly etc, the tires even came inflated and he was on the bike right away, thanks for the great experience.
This is a great bike. Well designed and made- my 4 year old son was able to transition to this bike from his 12'' easily. He calls it his "speed bike" because it is so much easier for him to pedal and ride fast. We went on a 4 mile bike ride with him around San Diego Bay and he led the whole time! I'm really glad we chose this bike.
